This recording sounds a lot like the two Westerberg ones I did at the Whisky a few months later (check sample below). Lots of Gail Greenwood bass. Only normalized and added fades and tracks on the master CD-R. Some folks might see Belly as just another one of those transitory bands that emerged in the post-Nirvana alternative onslaught. To me, they were one of the few bands of that era that had the potential for greatness and disappeared far too prematurely, though Tanya continues to make great music today. They were catchy and arty, had a real edge, intriguing lyrics and melodies, etc. etc. What's not to like? Some say the second record didn't live up to the greatness of the still-amazing-in-hindsight Star. Have you ever played the song "Red" from King? A stunner. Tanya even resurrected it on her most recent solo tour. Glad to see that there are still fans out there as evidenced by the flurry of Belly activity on DIME. Butterking (for JEMS)
